Your New Greater Iowa Credit Card Is Coming Soon!
We’re upgrading your Greater Iowa Credit Union credit card to a new Visa card—bringing you enhanced security, contactless technology, and updated benefits. Starting in mid-October, members will begin receiving their upgraded Visa debit cards in the mail.
There’s nothing you need to do to request your new card. Just activate it when it arrives, safely destroy your old Mastercard, and enjoy a seamless transition to your upgraded Visa credit card.

What You Need to Know
- You’ll automatically receive your new Visa credit card in the mail.
- Consumer cards will begin arriving in mid-October, with business cards set to arrive in early November.
- Your Mastercard credit card will be deactivated after you activate your new Visa card.
- Your card number, expiration date, and security code will change.
- We are not changing existing rates. We will be removing foreign transaction fees. Rewards for credit cards will be updated.
- You'll need to update any recurring payments or saved cards with your new Visa details.

Why is my credit card changing?
We’re transitioning to Visa to offer enhanced security, contactless payment technology, and updated benefits. Some terms may change, so please review the Guide to Benefits included with your new card.
When will I receive my new credit card?
We anticipate GICU Visa consumer credit cards will begin arriving in your mailbox by mid-October. GICU Visa business credit cards will be arriving in mailboxes at the beginning of November. We anticipate all members should receive their new card by mid-November.
Do I need to request a new Visa card?
No. You’ll automatically receive your new Visa credit card in the mail—no action is needed to request one.
Will my card number change?
Yes. With our refreshed designs your card number, expiration date, and security code will change. Be sure to update any recurring payments or saved cards in digital wallets and online accounts.
Will my rate, fee or rewards change?
We are not increasing APR's with our new Visa products. Additionally, we will be removing foreign transaction fees on our credit cards. GICU will be updating our reward offerings with our new Visa product set. We will share more personalized details as we get closer to mailing for existing cardholders.
Are there any card features changing?
Some terms and features may change with your new card. For full details, please review the Guide to Benefits for your Greater Every Day Cash, Greater Every Day Rate, Greater Every Day Rewards, or Greater Every Day Business credit card.
Will I need to change my PIN on my Visa credit card?
Yes. When you activate your new card, you will have an opportunity to set up a PIN for cash advances as well as in-person international transactions. You may set this to any four-digit number you like.
What should I do when my new card arrives?
Activate your new Visa credit card using the instructions provided, then safely destroy your old Mastercard. Please update any recurring payments with your new card details.
Will this impact my online banking or mobile app?
Yes. Members will need to add their new Visa credit cards within online banking or the GICU Cards mobile app. If you have elected to set custom alerts and controls on your credit card, you may need to re-establish them.
